The Anti-Bullying activity held in Professor Vallier’s room was both educational and inspiring. It began with a brief discussion on how students are gravely affected when being bullied whether it’s in person or online. Multiple things went on during this meeting. We played a game where one of the speakers put a bright red line down the middle of the room and told us to stand on one side. Once everyone was settled and chose a side, the speaker informed us that we were about to play a game. She was going to say something that we could either have experienced, or not. For example; “Have any of you ever felt discriminated by your race or gender.” If you thought the issue that she brought up was something you had experienced, then you stepped on the line. It was interesting to see who stepped on the line. It felt like after every issue she brought up, we all felt more together and more comfortable with one another that we had all felt the same about one thing or another at some points in our lives. We got to watch a video on students going through difficult times in their lives and saw how even if they were sad there was a brighter side in the end. Seeing these people going through these times themselves over words or things that other individuals could have done was entirely disappointing. Before I had just been uninvolved in things people do to one another in bad ways, stayed away from insulting people and consoled whoever was going through bad times. After this activity I felt as if I should over achieve in the issue of bullying and instead of just not doing it I felt like going and helping prevent and possibly even help someone overcome it. After watching the video, we did an activity where the speakers wrote down everyone’s name in the class on a blank sheet of paper and gave one paper to each student. You couldn’t have your own name, and when you got a paper you had to write down one nice thing about the person that you got. After we finished writing things, we got our papers back. It was actually a really nice and sweet activity. Who wouldn’t like a paper full of compliments? It brightened my day completely to see the thoughts my classmates had on me. We even wrote one or Professor Vallier! Hers was by far the absolute best; we all poured our hearts out to her basically explaining how great of a teacher she is. After all those heartwarming letters, we had pie. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable class and I am happy that I was there to experience it all.

Hey Mom! Just sending you an iMail to say hello and to see how you were doing. Everything’s going very well over here; I’m really enjoying this whole college experience! I know you wanted details on my first day of college, so here’s a play by play on my entire day!
· Woke up to my iAlarm Clock
· Picked out what to wear from my iCloset (took me forever)
· Ate and got ready for school
· Took the instant transporter to class (I was on time to all my classes, you’d be so proud!)
· Went to my first class, sat down on my computer desk and met my computer instructor
· Grabbed some snacks from the iVending Machine
· Got out of class, went to the Apple store to get my iPhone 10 fixed
· Just got home, and am now beginning my homework
I miss you guys so much, but I really love it here at FGCU! I’ll see you guys next weekend, tell everyone I said hello!

Skunk Ape
Finding reliable resources online can be difficult for students these days due to the fact that anyone is capable of tampering with information causing very few sources to be credible for research. Due to this reoccurring problem of wrong information from unreliable websites the Skunk Ape tutorial was created to assist students when trying to find valuable resources for their research. It’s very specific and teaches you exactly how to get the information you’re searching for in a timely manner. Before this I had no idea what a Skunk Ape was, I kind of thought it might have been some weird extinct animal that no one pays much attention to. This tutorial helped me tremendously and now I feel more confident in my research and its reliability.

Big Five for Life
Big Five for Life
In preference order!
1) Be a millionaire
2) Travel the world
3) Have a job that I love
4) Get married/ have a family
5) Make a difference
To start off, I know the whole “millionaire” thing is a little overboard but it will happen, trust me! I want to be financially stable enough to support myself and my family when I get older.
Traveling the world is something I’ve always wanted to do. The only places I’ve been to so far are New York, New Hampshire, Peru and of course Florida. I’d like to expand my sightseeing and understand the culture of other countries. The world is a beautiful place and we only have one life to see it, so why not?
One thing I don’t want to do when I get older is wake up every morning and dread going to work. I want to be able to say that I love my job and that it’s more of a hobby than work.
The reason why this is in preference order is because I want to pace myself and enjoy my youth. After I get to do the things I’ve wanted to do in my life, I of course want to get a husband and have kids in which I will nurture and care for with all my heart.
This world has gotten too filled with cruelty and crime. I want to somehow restore happiness amongst everyone and make everyone understand that there’s no reason for fighting or madness and that there’s always a reason to smile! J

Underage Drinking
Multiple privileges are given when people first turn eighteen. Whether it’s no more state driving curfew, or the ability to purchase items only “adults” can buy, there’s no arguing that we get more than when we were considered “underage”. With this newly found classification of being an official adult, why is it that we are not trusted to consume alcohol? Once you turn eighteen the law states that you’re allowed to transport alcohol. You can drive with alcohol in your car as long as the container is unopened and is far from reaching distance, and if you’re a waiter/waitress you may deliver alcohol to your assigned table. If we’re trusted with being around it, how are we not trusted to part take in consuming the substance? The ongoing question that seems to be left unanswered is if the drinking age should be lowered to 18. I strongly believe that if we are trusted to be around it, we should be trusted to consume it. Otherwise, honestly, it’ just a tease until we reach the age 21.

Success! (Extra Credit Blog)
I’m proud to say, that I haven’t drove to school since I wrote the footprints blog. At first finding the strength to reject the mode of transportation sitting right outside my dorm building was more than difficult, but once I realized how much it would help the environment I put my laziness aside and decided to just go and do it. I’m actually really glad that I did it because I feel more active and productive. It usually takes me 15 minutes to walk from my dorm to the actual classroom (yes, I timed myself). That’s not even that bad! I get a nice little exercise and I get to help the environment. Win win, right? In the fall I see myself proceeding with walking to school instead of driving. I used to be in the environment club back in high school, and I loved the activities we did throughout the year that seemed to help out everyone around us. I see myself possibly joining a club similar to that in the fall, for sure.
